    According to reports from The Sun, a young female footballer has tragically passed away, with a statement from her club confirming this devastating news.

    The footballer, Naomi Mendoza, served as a goalkeeper for Las Majoreras and sadly collapsed at the end of August.

    Following the collapse, she was swiftly transported to a hospital in Spain’s Canary Islands, where she received treatment for complications associated with meningitis.

    At just 17 years old, Mendoza had a promising future and was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Canary Islands Under-17 women’s national team.

    In response to the heart-wrenching news of their goalkeeper’s passing, Las Majoreras released a poignant statement, expressing their grief and honoring her memory.

    The statement read, “We will always keep your smile. Your improvement. Your desire to live. From our club, we send our deepest condolences and sympathies to Naomi’s parents, family, and friends. RIP NAO.”

    Las Palmas, a prominent La Liga side based in the Canary Islands, also paid their respects to Mendoza and shared their deepest condolences with her family and club.

    In a heartfelt message, they wrote, “Our most sincere condolences to family, friends, and the @cdguiniguadafem family. RIP, Naomi.”
