Ethihad Stadium erupts in celebration as promising news is shared regarding RODRI’s red card from the Nottingham Forest victory.

Manchester City’s fans can anticipate Rodri’s return after just two games. Wondering why? Let’s break it down.

Rodri can swiftly return to play due to the nature of his red card. The suspension is specific to games within England, like the Premier League.

He’ll be absent for the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle United and the Premier League game against Wolves. However, his domestic ban ends after the Premier League clash with Arsenal on October 8.

The good news is, Rodri will be eligible to play in the UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig on October 4, just before their game at the Emirates Stadium.

In essence, Rodri’s suspension only applies to domestic games since the red card came in a Premier League match. European games are not affected.

Had he received the red card in a European game, he’d be banned for three European matches but still eligible for Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup games. The suspension works both ways.

While Guardiola and Manchester City will miss Rodri’s presence at home, they’ll have him ready for a challenging encounter against RB Leipzig.

Among their opponents in Group G, RB Leipzig appears to be Manchester City’s toughest challenge, surpassing Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.

This brings hope to fans rooting for a successful UEFA Champions League group stage.
