David de Gea is set to return to football after signing for this new club

After departing from Manchester United in the summer, David de Gea is nearing a return to competitive football.

Two Spanish teams are contemplating moves for David de Gea, the former goalkeeper of Manchester United.

During the summer transfer window, numerous clubs sought to secure the services of the 32-year-old Spanish goalkeeper.

Teams from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer expressed keen interest in acquiring him.

However, De Gea declined these offers with a preference to return to Spain. Potential offers may now come from his homeland, with Real Betis and Valencia expressing interest in the free agent.

Since parting ways with Manchester United in June, the veteran goalkeeper has remained without a club. During this time, he has maintained his fitness through individual training sessions.

De Gea, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford, experienced a decline in performance over the past two seasons.

This decline led Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, to secure Andre Onana from Inter Milan as a replacement.

Considering his options, Real Betis appears to be the more suitable choice for De Gea.

The club based in Seville is currently facing a crisis due to an injury to their regular goalkeeper, Rui Silva, and the return of Claudio Bravo, aged 40, after an extended absence. As a result, the former Manchester United star could offer a more dependable solution.

On the other hand, at Valencia, the 32-year-old would encounter stiff competition from the young Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and is not guaranteed to be a starter every week.

De Gea’s potential move back to Spain has garnered significant attention, and it remains to be seen where he will resume his footballing career.
