In September, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr team journeyed to Iran for a match against Persepolis during the Asian Champions League group stage.
During the visit, the renowned Portuguese player engaged in photo sessions. However, one particular photo has stirred controversy.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Ronaldo received a portrait from Iranian artist Fatima Hamimi, and during the customary photo opportunity, he displayed an affectionate gesture by kissing her and placing his arm around her.
Unfortunately, this seemingly innocuous act has landed him in trouble with the Iranian authorities.
According to Mundo Deportivo, several solicitors have lodged complaints regarding Ronaldo’s actions, deeming them highly inappropriate. Under Iranian law, even touching a married woman is considered tantamount to adultery.
It’s important to note that Ronaldo likely had no awareness of this cultural and legal context before the photo was taken, making this incident an unintentional clash of customs and norms.
