A prominent player from Manchester United is departing the club following a dispute with Erik ten Hag.

Jadon Sancho could potentially leave Manchester United on a “long-term” loan in January, with slim prospects of returning to Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup, according to 90min reports.

Sancho’s situation took a turn for the worse in September when he had a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. This dispute arose when the 23-year-old was left out of the squad to face Arsenal.

Ten Hag stated that Sancho’s training effort was not up to par with his teammates, a claim Sancho disputed on social media. This led to further backlash from Ten Hag and United, resulting in Sancho training separately from the first team.

Sancho has been informed that the only way back to the first team is to issue an apology to Ten Hag. So far, Sancho has not apologized, and there are no signs of a change in his stance. However, the club’s management, coaches, and teammates have actively encouraged him to do so.

United now recognizes that Sancho is likely to leave the team in January.

Although there have been mentions of future co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe influencing Sancho’s future, 90min reports that the INEOS CEO, who has a strong connection with Ten Hag from his time at Ajax, will not interfere in team selections.

Several teams are considering Sancho’s case, but his preferred option would be a return to his former club, Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is assessing the situation, but the specifics of any deal are still under consideration.

Dortmund might need to make room in their squad come January for Sancho, but the final decision is pending. An 18-month loan agreement with recall options on both sides during each transfer window is one of the options being considered.

Other German clubs have also shown interest, and West Ham is monitoring the situation, indicating Premier League interest. However, securing a deal with another English club is expected to be more complex.
