Marcus Rashford has responded to speculation about his future at Manchester United amid recent controversy.
There have been suggestions of tension between Rashford and United’s manager, Erik ten Hag. This came after Rashford apologized to Ten Hag for attending a nightclub party to celebrate his birthday following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Reports emerged the day after the City match that Rashford had gone to the Chinawhite nightclub for a pre-arranged birthday party just hours after the loss at Old Trafford. Furthermore, Rashford was not included in the squad for United’s subsequent 1-0 win at Fulham, with the reason cited as a “heavy knock” in training.
This led to speculation about potential tensions between the player and Ten Hag. In response to a tweet from The United Stand questioning Rashford’s future at the club, the 26-year-old forward bluntly replied on social media, “Please STOP spreading malicious rumours.”
Rashford had an outstanding season last year, scoring 30 goals in all competitions. However, he has had a challenging start to the current season, having only scored once for United thus far.
Ten Hag has firmly rejected the suggestions that Rashford is not meeting the standards expected by the United manager.
In a press conference, Ten Hag stated, “He’s fitting in [with Ten Hag’s policies]. He’s very motivated to put things right. I know which effort he’s putting in. He’s totally with us.”
The manager emphasized that Rashford’s commitment on and off the pitch, along with his dedication to the team’s success, is unquestionable, despite making a mistake. Ten Hag reassured that Rashford is doing everything necessary to help the team perform and achieve victories.
