Anthony Martial is set to thwart any potential departure from Old Trafford this month, emphasizing his singular focus on Manchester United, as per reports.

Manchester United’s forward, Anthony Martial, has turned down offers from Marseille, Fenerbahce, and teams in the Saudi Pro League, expressing his intention to stay with the club until the summer.

At 28 years old, Martial’s contract with United expires at the end of June, allowing him to engage in discussions with foreign clubs since January 1 for a potential pre-contract agreement. Despite speculation surrounding his future, United asserts that no formal approaches have been made by other clubs regarding Martial’s potential move.

Reports from The Athletic last month suggested that United has no plans to trigger the one-year extension option in Martial’s contract, opting to let him leave as a free agent. The French international, who signed a five-year deal in 2019, included this one-year club option.

Manager Erik ten Hag recently mentioned ongoing discussions with Martial about his future, emphasizing that talks do not necessarily indicate an extension. The situation mirrors discussions with defender Raphael Varane, whose contract also expires in June, allowing him to explore pre-contract agreements with foreign teams.

Having joined Manchester United in 2015, Martial has amassed 90 goals in 317 appearances. However, he has faced challenges with form and fitness in recent years, failing to surpass 10 goals in a season since the 2019-20 campaign. In the current season, Martial has been on the fringes of Ten Hag’s squad, making only five starts in all competitions.

He has contributed two goals in 19 appearances and has been sidelined for United’s last six games due to a combination of illness and injury.

Despite Martial’s uncertain future, Manchester United is bracing for the departure of Jadon Sancho in the current transfer window. The 23-year-old forward is set to join his former club Borussia Dortmund on loan, adding to the reshuffling dynamics within the squad.

As the summer transfer window looms closer, the intricacies of Martial’s decision, potential negotiations, and United’s evolving squad composition remain focal points.

The discussions with Varane and the impending departure of Sancho contribute to the ongoing narrative surrounding Manchester United’s player movements, emphasizing the fluidity and anticipation associated with the football transfer landscape.
