A renowned figure from the Premier League advises Erik ten Hag to alter his strategy for the Manchester United talent, encouraging him to unlock the player’s world-class potential.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has urged Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to grant 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo a central role in orchestrating the Red Devils’ midfield.

Despite his young age, Mainoo has made a significant impact, particularly in the face of injuries plaguing Manchester United’s midfield. In his 10th appearance of the season during the 2-2 draw against Spurs, Mainoo earned high praise from Premier League legend Ian Wright.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day 2, Wright expressed his admiration for Mainoo’s ability to progress the ball with calmness and fluidity, emphasizing the desire to see him take a more prominent role in dictating play for Manchester United.

Wright advocated for allowing Mainoo the freedom to be the orchestrator, facilitating smooth ball progression and enabling the front men to engage in more varied and dynamic attacking play.

Despite his tender age, Mainoo has earned the trust of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, evident in his sixth consecutive start for the team against Spurs.

This includes a significant role in a crucial match against bitter rivals Liverpool late last year, where he played over eighty minutes. Mainoo’s consistent inclusion in the starting lineup indicates the manager’s confidence in his abilities and potential contributions to the team.

Furthermore, there are reports that Dan Gore, who previously played alongside Mainoo in the Red Devils’ U19s midfield, has attracted loan interest from several clubs, showcasing the talent within the Manchester United youth ranks. Meanwhile, Utd District sources suggest that the club has made progress in securing the future of another academy prospect, Isak Hansen-Aarøen.

The emergence of young talents like Mainoo is seen as a positive sign for Manchester United’s future, and Ian Wright’s endorsement adds weight to the belief that the midfielder has the potential to play a more pivotal role in the team’s midfield dynamics.

As Mainoo continues to impress on the pitch, the spotlight remains on how Manchester United’s management will nurture and integrate these promising prospects into the senior squad, shaping the club’s direction in the seasons to come.
