Reports indicate that Marcus Rashford was spotted at nightclubs in Belfast on Wednesday and Thursday nights, leading to his absence from Friday’s training session due to reported illness.

The 26-year-old allegedly visited Lavery’s Bar on Wednesday and Thompsons Garage nightclub the following day. The Athletic reported these events, and when questioned about the situation, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remained tight-lipped, describing it as an “internal matter.”

In response to the events in Northern Ireland, Marcus Rashford, along with his agent Dwaine Maynard, held discussions with football director John Murtough and manager Erik ten Hag at Carrington on Monday morning. Later that evening, Manchester United released a statement confirming Rashford’s return to training and his eligibility for the upcoming match against Wolves. The statement noted that Rashford has acknowledged his actions, and the matter has been resolved internally as a disciplinary issue.

The Sun reported that Marcus Rashford is likely to face a substantial fine, equivalent to two weeks’ wages, totaling £650,000. The financial penalty reflects the seriousness with which the club is addressing the situation. Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer weighed in on the matter, emphasizing the need for Rashford to recognize the consequences of his actions and not squander his immense talent.

Speaking to BBC Sport after Erik ten Hag’s pre-match interview, Shearer highlighted that there seems to be an issue, whether personal or related to Rashford’s relationship with the club, that needs attention.

Shearer emphasized the importance of strong management intervention to guide Rashford in making better choices. With only four goals this season compared to thirty in the previous season, it is evident that a change is necessary. Despite the disciplinary actions and the impending financial penalty, Rashford is expected to be available for selection in the upcoming match against Wolves.

The incident has sparked discussions about the responsibility that comes with talent and the role of management in guiding young players through challenges. As Rashford faces the repercussions of his actions, the hope is that this serves as a pivotal moment for him to refocus and fulfill his potential on the pitch while making more prudent decisions off it.
