An analyst suggests that Mikel Arteta fails to recognize Arsenal’s top players and often sidelines them.

Following his standout performance against West Ham, Robbie Mustoe singles out an Arsenal player he believes is underrated and possibly undervalued by Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal’s emphatic 6-0 victory at the London Stadium sent a significant message, especially given the pressure from previous encounters and the weekend wins by title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool.

Despite missing some early chances, including ones by Leandro Trossard, Arsenal’s momentum surged once they found the back of the net.

Trossard, particularly, drew praise after his superb finish for the fourth goal just before halftime. Operating as a false nine against West Ham, the Belgian’s movement troubled the opposition defense.

Robbie Mustoe, speaking on The 2 Robbies podcast, expressed his belief that Trossard, despite his contributions, doesn’t receive the recognition he deserves.

“I’ll go on to say that this weekend’s underappreciated performer is Leandro Trossard. He’s a little gem, in my opinion,” Mustoe stated.

He recalled Trossard’s impact from the previous season when Arsenal struggled to score goals, emphasizing the need to keep him in the starting lineup.

However, Mustoe noted Arteta’s tendency to favor other players like Gabriel Jesus over Trossard, suggesting that the Belgian might find himself on the bench in the next game, despite his talent and contributions.

Trossard’s status as Arsenal’s second-highest scorer in the Premier League this season, with 22 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions, has seemingly gone unnoticed.

Despite starting only 18 league games since joining the club just over a year ago, his goal-scoring record is impressive.

Arteta may argue that he recognizes Trossard’s quality, especially considering the risk involved in bringing him to the club when they were competing for the title.

Trossard’s consistent improvement and impact on the team cannot be ignored.
