A Chelsea player who rejected Arsenal’s offer last summer is now seeking another opportunity to join Arteta’s team after encouragement from Pochettino to find a new club.

According to reports from Fichajes, Arsenal is contemplating a surprising move for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Gunners had been close to securing the Ukrainian winger’s signature before he ultimately joined Chelsea in 2023.

Arsenal had been in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea swooped in and secured the deal by agreeing to a substantial fee of approximately £88.5 million.

However, since his high-profile transfer to Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old has struggled to adapt to English football and has fallen short of expectations. With just four goals in 42 appearances for the Blues, Mudryk has failed to make the desired impact.

Recent reports suggest that Chelsea may be willing to offload Mudryk, potentially paving the way for Arsenal to reignite their interest.

Fichajes has identified the Gunners as the primary contenders for Mudryk’s signature, alongside Italian giants Juventus.

Given Mudryk’s underwhelming stint at Chelsea and his current valuation of around £34 million by Transfermarkt, Chelsea may be forced to accept a significant loss on their initial investment.

The situation presents an intriguing dilemma for Chelsea as they navigate the complexities of player transfers and financial considerations.

For Arsenal, the prospect of signing Mudryk represents a departure from their usual transfer strategy.

While the Gunners are undoubtedly in need of reinforcements, particularly in the wide areas, investing heavily in a player who has struggled to make an impact at a rival club could be perceived as a risky move by fans and pundits alike.

Furthermore, Arsenal’s need for squad depth extends beyond the acquisition of a single winger. With players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the squad, Mikel Arteta will be keen to bolster his options across multiple positions to ensure adequate rotation and cover for the demands of a long season.
