This morning, Arsenal fans received disheartening news confirmed by Sky Sports.

Sunday’s upcoming fixtures present a potentially decisive moment in the season, as Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions face off against the league-leading Anfield side, while Arsenal hosts Brentford.

A victory for Mikel Arteta’s squad against Brentford, coupled with a draw between Liverpool and Manchester City, would propel Arsenal to the top of the table based on goal difference.

Arsenal’s recent dominant performance against Sheffield United, where they scored six goals, has significantly boosted their goal difference to +45, compared to Liverpool’s +39 and City’s +35. Such goal differences can prove pivotal in the final reckoning of the season.

However, Arsenal’s triumph at Bramall Lane came with potential setbacks, as both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were forced off the pitch early due to apparent injuries.

Thankfully, Arteta provided reassurance that neither issue seems severe. “Bukayo was feeling unwell and not quite himself, so we opted to substitute him and bring Fabio in,” Arteta explained in an interview with Sky Sports (via Liverpool World).

“As for Gabi, it’s merely a minor cut. He sustained a tackle and suffered a slight cut. We will monitor his condition.”

Following their Champions League fixture against Porto next week, Arsenal will enjoy an extended break due to Chelsea’s involvement in the FA Cup.

Their subsequent match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium will be crucial, and Arteta will undoubtedly require all his key players performing at their peak to maintain their title aspirations.

Overall, the upcoming fixtures present a crucial juncture in the season for Arsenal, as they aim to capitalize on any opportunities to strengthen their position at the top of the table and edge closer to the title race.
