Barcelona set for 10 point deduction by La Liga if they are guilty of breaking financial fair play rules

Barcelona, among other clubs, has been penalized by UEFA for violating Financial Fair Play regulations, resulting in a hefty fine of 500,000 euros.

The Catalan giants were found guilty of incorrectly reporting profits from the disposal of intangible assets in the 2022 financial year, which were not considered relevant income according to the regulations.

Similarly, Manchester United has also been fined €300,000 for minor breaches of break-even deficits, while Porto and Anderlecht have faced similar sanctions.

These penalties were announced recently, following a final round of monitoring under UEFA’s previous FFP rules, with new regulations set to be implemented at the beginning of the 2023-24 season.

Barcelona’s dissatisfaction with the decision is evident, and they intend to appeal the fine.

They consider the penalty disproportionate and argue that La Liga had approved the reporting.

If necessary, the club is prepared to take the matter to TAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) in pursuit of a fair resolution.
