Barcelona’s manager has affirmed the club’s intention to secure the signature of a prominent player from Manchester City.

Barcelona is strategizing to overcome financial hurdles by adopting a method akin to their previous approach in securing Vitor Roque’s transfer, as reported by Fichajes.

In the negotiations with Atletico Paranense for Roque, Barcelona agreed on an initial payment of €30 million, with the potential for increments up to €61 million,

subject to specific conditions. Even for the initial sum, Barcelona opted for instalments of €5 million every six months.

Now, the Catalan club aims to replicate this strategy in their pursuit of Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva. This tactic highlights Barcelona’s commitment to strengthening their squad while navigating financial constraints.

Despite financial challenges, Barcelona remains resolute in bolstering their squad this summer, particularly targeting talented midfielders like Silva.

However, financial improvements are necessary, requiring adherence to the 1/1 rule, allowing reinvestment of all transfer earnings.

To achieve this, club president Joan Laporta is considering a strategy similar to Roque’s signing, facilitating efficient financial management and cost allocation.

Regarding Silva, recent reports suggest his attraction to joining Barcelona, showing willingness to make efforts from his end.

Barcelona’s pursuit depends on their Financial Fair Play standing, given Silva’s £50 million release clause agreed upon in his last summer’s contract renewal with City.

Yet, Barcelona’s ability to afford this sum upfront remains uncertain. Hence, the proposed strategy involving staggered payments, subject to City’s agreement, serves as a potential solution.
