Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino has delivered a stern message regarding Nicholas Jackson and Madueke following their involvement in the penalty clash with Cole Palmer, despite knowing that Palmer is the designated penalty taker.

In a recent televised discussion, I addressed the incident involving Madueke and Nicolas Jackson before delving into the game details.

Firstly, I clarified that Cole Palmer is designated as the penalty taker for our team, a fact known to all players, staff, and the club. The events that unfolded were regrettable and unacceptable, leading to my frustration.

Maintaining discipline is paramount within our team, and such incidents undermine our standards.

While players naturally strive to score goals and contribute to the team’s success, adherence to team protocols is non-negotiable.

I emphasized the importance of understanding individual and collective goals, particularly for our young team members, amidst the demanding environment at Chelsea.

Regarding potential consequences for Nicolas or Noni, punitive measures are not my immediate focus.

Instead, it’s about addressing the behavior and fostering a learning environment. Both players must understand the gravity of their actions and use this experience to mature and progress.

Moving forward, our focus should shift to the upcoming FA Cup match, learning from past mistakes, and making informed decisions for the team’s future.

While Palmer’s goal-scoring capabilities were not a surprise upon his signing, his adaptation to the team and consistent performances have been commendable.

In conclusion, while the incident was regrettable, it serves as a learning opportunity for our young players, emphasizing the importance of discipline, adherence to team protocols, and continuous growth and improvement within our squad.
