Marc Cucurella affirms that despite uncertainties surrounding Mauricio Pochettino’s future as Chelsea manager, he enjoys the support of the players.

As the end of Pochettino’s debut season with Chelsea approaches, the pressure on him mounts. The team’s performance has been under scrutiny, having won only 13 out of 33 matches and currently sitting in ninth place in the Premier League, a considerable 19 points behind the top four.

Since the takeover of Todd Boehly’s consortium two years ago, Chelsea has invested over one billion pounds in players, yet they have failed to live up to expectations on the pitch.

Following a devastating 5-0 defeat to Arsenal and a 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, there were reports suggesting that the club hierarchy was considering Pochettino’s dismissal.

Despite facing adversity, Pochettino’s tenure received a small reprieve when Chelsea managed to salvage a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa after falling behind 2-0.

However, their comeback was marred by the controversial disallowance of Axel Disasi’s late goal by the video assistant referee.

Cucurella believes that Pochettino deserves more time based on the positive direction he is leading the team.

He asserts that the players demonstrated their desire for Pochettino to remain in his role through their second-half comeback against Villa.

Cucurella commended Pochettino’s halftime speech and highlighted the team’s positive reaction. Despite setbacks, Cucurella emphasizes the importance of unity, growth, consistent performance, and mentality among the players.

While Pochettino acknowledged his team’s surrender during their match against Arsenal, their performance against Villa showed promise.

Goals from Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher, along with Disasi’s disallowed header, showcased the team’s resilience.

Pochettino’s contract with Chelsea includes an option for an additional year, but the club’s tendency to prioritize short-term results raises doubts about his long-term prospects.

Pochettino remains uncertain about his future despite already planning for the upcoming transfer window and preseason.

As Chelsea faces Tottenham and approaches the end of the season with matches against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Bournemouth, Pochettino’s position remains precarious.
