A Liverpool player is poised to end his contract with the club and transfer to Barcelona in January, citing a desire to no longer play under Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián San Miguel has signaled his desire to return to La Liga during the upcoming summer transfer window. Speaking in an interview with Movistar Plus, the 37-year-old discussed his future at Anfield, as per reports from Mucho Deporte.

Adrián has found limited playing time at Liverpool this season, having not made any appearances and only featuring in two games since the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign.

With his contract set to expire in June, it appears increasingly likely that he will explore opportunities away from the Merseyside club.

Having made the move from Real Betis to West Ham United in 2013 and subsequently joining Jürgen Klopp’s side on a free transfer after six years with the London club, Adrián now has his sights set on a return to La Liga in the upcoming transfer window.

Expressing his ambitions, Adrián stated, “After spending 11 seasons in the Premier League, I am keen to return to La Liga. It would signify the culmination of a significant chapter in my career.

Despite being 37, I still feel physically prepared to compete at a high level. As a goalkeeper, maintaining fitness and avoiding serious injuries are crucial, and I believe I have done so effectively.”

He further added, “I am convinced that I have plenty of football left in me, and the prospect of returning to La Liga is genuinely appealing to me. However, the project and the club’s vision must align with my ambitions and expectations.”

While Adrián has not yet engaged in discussions regarding his future with Liverpool, his primary focus remains on a potential move to La Liga.

He clarified, “I have not had any formal discussions with Liverpool regarding my future. However, I am closely monitoring developments in La Liga, as it is a league that I am deeply familiar with and have fond memories of.”

With Claudio Bravo set to depart Real Betis when his contract expires next month, Adrián could emerge as a potential option for the Andalusian club in the upcomingtransfer window.
