Chelsea has made a surprising appointment by naming a new manager following the sacking of Pochettino.

Chelsea’s summer transfer strategy hinges on securing an accomplished number nine, given their need for a reliable goal scorer. The club has long been interested in Napoli’s prolific forward Victor Osimhen, and a summer move could finally materialize.

Last season, the Blues underperformed in terms of Expected Goals, with Nicolas Jackson particularly struggling to convert chances.

Osimhen, who netted 15 goals in 25 Serie A appearances, experienced a slightly off-peak season compared to his previous performance.

Despite this, his impressive goal-scoring record has attracted attention not only from Chelsea but also from top clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. However, his acquisition won’t come cheap, as he has a significant release clause of £113 million.

Beyond bolstering their attack, Chelsea is also looking to strengthen their defensive options. The departure of seasoned center-back Thiago Silva has left a gap that needs filling. Additionally, the club aims to enhance its depth at left-back to ensure a robust defense for the upcoming season.

However, Chelsea’s ability to make these high-profile signings is contingent on adhering to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

To meet these financial requirements, the club must first generate funds through player sales. This means offloading some of their current squad members to balance the books before any new acquisitions can be finalized.

Several players are on the potential sell list, with their departures expected to bring in pure profit. Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja, Ian Maatsen, and Trevoh Chalobah are among those likely to be sold.

These players, considered part of the club’s periphery squad, have shown potential but are seen as expendable assets in the broader scheme of Chelsea’s financial strategy.

The club’s management hopes that selling these players will provide the necessary funds to facilitate their summer shopping spree without violating financial regulations.

Moreover, the club’s intent to offload these players reflects a strategic decision to refresh the squad and ensure compliance with financial fair play rules. This approach also underscores Chelsea’s commitment to balancing their books while striving to compete at the highest levels both domestically and in Europe.
