Lukaku acknowledged that although Saudi Arabia might not initially seem appealing, it offers a comprehensive lifestyle with all necessary amenities.
He expressed a willingness to move to Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the footballing standards there are improving steadily. Lukaku noted that the league is not as subpar as commonly perceived and predicted that an increasing number of football stars would soon be drawn to the Saudi Pro League. This shift is partly due to the passionate fanbase and the ongoing improvements in sports infrastructure within the country.
Lukaku also pointed out that Saudi Arabia is becoming a significant player on the global sports stage, as evidenced by its involvement in various high-profile sports, including football, boxing, and Formula 1. This emerging prominence is attracting attention from Europe’s top clubs, indicating a growing recognition of Saudi Arabia’s potential.
The trend of former Chelsea players moving to Saudi Arabia has already begun, with notable figures like N’Golo Kante joining the Saudi Pro League this season.
Additionally, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy, who fell out of favor at Chelsea, have also moved to Saudi clubs. Lukaku’s potential transfer would continue this pattern, reflecting a broader movement of European football talent to the Middle Eastern nation.
