AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has cautioned his £70m compatriot against moving to Arsenal if he genuinely wants to compete with the best.

Arsenal are reportedly gearing up for a substantial summer spending spree to secure Sporting CP’s star forward Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Sun.

The North London club is prioritizing the acquisition of a new striker following the underwhelming performances of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah last season. Arsenal’s need for a reliable goal scorer has intensified, prompting them to explore significant transfer options to bolster their attacking lineup.

    Transfer Strategy and Potential Departures

Given the lackluster outputs from Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal is contemplating selling one of them to make room for new talent. The club has been linked with various strikers in recent weeks, including Benjamin Šeško, Joshua Zirkzee, and Victor Osimhen.

However, securing these targets has proven challenging. Šeško has committed to RB Leipzig with a new contract, and AC Milan appears to be the frontrunner for Zirkzee. Osimhen’s high price tag has pushed Arsenal to consider more financially feasible alternatives, with Gyokeres emerging as a prime candidate.

Financial Details and Sporting CP’s Position

The Sun reports that Arsenal is prepared to offer between £50 million and £60 million for the Swedish international. However, Sporting CP is holding out for a higher fee, demonstrating their reluctance to part with their star forward.

Despite being open to selling some of their key players, Sporting CP would rather place Ousmane Diomande and Gonçalo Inácio on the transfer list than let Gyokeres go. This stance complicates Arsenal’s pursuit, indicating that negotiations could be protracted and challenging.

    Arsenal’s Broader Interest

In addition to Gyokeres, Arsenal has shown interest in other Sporting CP players like Diomande and Inácio. Scouts have closely monitored Inácio throughout the previous season, highlighting Arsenal’s broader strategy to strengthen their squad with top-tier talent.

Although it remains unclear if Arsenal will make concrete moves for these players, their interest reflects a comprehensive approach to enhancing their team depth and quality.

    Gyokeres’ Impact and Potential Fit

Gyokeres joined Sporting CP from Coventry City last summer and has since delivered standout performances, playing a pivotal role in his team’s league title win. His impressive goal-scoring record and overall impact have caught Arsenal’s attention, making him a top target.

At 26 years old, Gyokeres is at a prime stage in his career, ready for a significant move to a top European club. His potential signing would be a substantial boost for Arsenal, offering a proven goal scorer to spearhead their attack

Securing Gyokeres will not be straightforward. Sporting CP’s determination to retain him adds a layer of complexity to the potential transfer. Arsenal faces the challenge of meeting Sporting’s demands while also navigating the competitive nature of the transfer market.

However, the upcoming transfer window will reveal whether Arsenal can overcome these obstacles and successfully sign Gyokeres to enhance their offensive options.
