However, this achievement was deemed insufficient by owner Todd Boehly, leading to additional managerial changes. Pochettino and Chelsea mutually agreed to part ways a few days after the season’s final game.
Under Pochettino’s leadership, Gallagher was a consistent presence in the squad and frequently wore the captain’s armband.
He missed only one league game and solidified his position in England’s Euro 2024 team with a remarkable contribution of five goals and seven assists. Despite the challenges, Gallagher thrived under Pochettino’s guidance, showcasing significant improvement in his game.
Enzo Maresca, the former Leicester manager, has been appointed as Pochettino’s replacement at Chelsea. When asked about the managerial change, Gallagher did not hide his emotions. Despite the managerial change, Gallagher remains optimistic about the future. Enzo Maresca will take over from Pochettino, bringing a new dynamic to the team. Gallagher looks forward to working under Maresca and contributing to Chelsea’s success.
Meanwhile, Pochettino made a brief return to Stamford Bridge shortly after his departure to captain a World XI in the Soccer Aid charity match supporting UNICEF.
Reflecting on his tenure at Chelsea, Pochettino expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to manage the club. He thanked the owners, sporting directors, players, staff, and supporters for their support.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Pochettino said, “We strive so hard to provide you a Chelsea you can be proud of because we know how important this football club is to you all. I am really happy with the level the squad attained and the effort the players and staff put in to raise their game. They deserve a lot of praise, and I hope you saw it in their on-field performance as well.”
Pochettino acknowledged the ups and downs of the season but emphasized his belief in the squad’s potential. He expressed confidence that the players would grow stronger from the experiences and progress made during the season.
