Manchester United legend David Beckham has revealed he “knows the right people” to take control of the club from the Glazer family.
This statement comes as the Glazers announced last year they were open to considering “strategic alternatives” for their ownership, which could include a partial or full sale of the club.
Earlier this year, Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitted final bids to purchase United from the Glazers.

Beckham, attending this weekend’s Formula 1 Qatari Grand Prix, was asked by Sky Sports for his thoughts on the takeover process. “We are one of the, if not the biggest club in the world. We want stability.
I think that’s the most important thing,” he said. When questioned about Sheikh Jassim’s bid, Beckham, who also served as an ambassador for the controversial 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, expressed his opinion: “We all have our favourites of who we feel needs to run the club and look after the club to take it back to where it belongs.
In our eyes, in the fans’ eyes, we are number one. We want to be back at the top and I believe I know the right people to do that, so we’ll see!”
Beckham also showed support for Manchester United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, following the team’s poor start to the 2023/24 season, where they lost six of their opening 11 games. He acknowledged the challenges ten Hag faces amidst the off-field distractions. “Let’s see. He’s a good coach. It is a difficult time at the moment, but there’s a lot of noise around the club at the moment.
It can’t be easy for him,” Beckham continued. “We all want that noise to go away. We all want a decision to be made for the club, for the fans, for the players, and for the managers.”
