David Beckham has announced today that he has purchased a Premier League club!

Manchester United legend David Beckham has expressed confidence in his connections to potentially take over the club from the Glazer family.

The Glazers, who have been the owners of Manchester United, indicated last year their willingness to consider various “strategic alternatives” for their ownership, which could include either a partial or full sale of the club.

Earlier this year, both Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitted final offers to purchase Manchester United from the Glazers. However, neither party has received any response from the American owners regarding the acceptance of their bids. Recently, 90min reported that Ratcliffe is considering acquiring a minority stake in the club instead of a full takeover.

This development comes amidst ongoing protests from United fans, who once again demonstrated against the Glazers before Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brentford, demanding a complete sale of the club.

During the Formula 1 Qatari Grand Prix this weekend, Beckham shared his thoughts on the takeover process with Sky Sports. He emphasized the importance of stability for the club, stating, “We are one of the, if not the biggest club in the world. We want stability. I think that’s the most important thing.”

When asked about Sheikh Jassim’s bid, Beckham, who also served as an ambassador for the controversial 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, noted that everyone has their preferences for who should lead the club back to its former glory.

“We all have our favourites of who we feel needs to run the club and look after the club to take it back to where it belongs. In our eyes, in the fans’ eyes, we are number one. We want to be back at the top and I believe I know the right people to do that so we’ll see!”

Beckham also expressed his support for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who has faced challenges at the start of the 2023/24 season, with the team losing six of their first eleven games. He acknowledged the difficulties ten Hag is encountering, partly due to the off-field issues surrounding the club. “Let’s see.

He’s a good coach. It is a difficult time at the moment but there’s a lot of noise around the club at the moment. It can’t be easy for him,” Beckham continued. “We all want that noise to go away. We all want a decision to be made for the club, for the fans, for the players, and forthe managers.”
