Kalvin Phillips is set to finally put an end to his difficult stint at Manchester City by moving to a new club.

Kalvin Phillips, who signed with Manchester City two years ago in a high-profile £45 million transfer, has reportedly agreed to a loan move to Ipswich Town.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding his arrival at the Etihad, Phillips has struggled to make an impact under Pep Guardiola’s management.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who was a key figure at Leeds United before his move, has found himself on the fringes of City’s squad, managing just five Premier League starts since joining the club.

Phillips’ time at Manchester City has been disappointing, with the player failing to secure a regular spot in Guardiola’s plans. His lack of game time and form led to a loan spell at West Ham United last season.

However, his stint with the Hammers was far from successful. A series of poor individual performances saw him lose his place in the team, and his struggles on the pitch ultimately resulted in his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the EUROs in Germany this summer.

With his career at a crossroads, Phillips has been forced to seek opportunities elsewhere to regain his form and confidence. According to a report by Sky Sports News, the midfielder has now agreed to a season-long loan deal with Ipswich Town.

Phillips is said to have been impressed by the project led by Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna and turned down offers from other clubs to join the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich Town, who earned automatic promotion from the Championship last season, are preparing for their return to the Premier League.

The club’s ambitious project and the opportunity to play a significant role in their top-flight campaign likely appealed to Phillips as he looks to rebuild his career. The Tractor Boys will kick off their Premier League season with a challenging home fixture against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

For Phillips, this loan move represents a crucial chance to reset and prove his worth once again. After a difficult few years, he will be eager to regain the form that made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in England during his time at Leeds United.

The success of this loan spell could determine the future trajectory of Phillips’ career, as he seeks to get back on track and re-establish himself as a key player at the highest level.
