Jadon Sancho is on the verge of leaving Manchester United to join one of their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea have had an active and eventful transfer window this summer, marked by a significant influx of new players and the departure of several others.

With the arrival of new manager Enzo Maresca, the club has not been shy about spending substantial sums of money to strengthen their squad. Now, the Blues are reportedly preparing to make a move for a player from one of their Premier League rivals.

According to a report from Fussball.News, Chelsea is interested in signing Jadon Sancho, a player currently out of favor at Manchester United.

The English winger has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford and finds himself low in the pecking order under manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho’s time at Manchester United has been challenging since he joined the club in 2021 in a high-profile £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund, as reported by BBC.

Sancho’s difficulties at Manchester United were further highlighted when he was sent out on loan to his former club Borussia Dortmund last season following a public fallout with Ten Hag.

However, since returning to Manchester United, the two have attempted to put their differences aside and work together. Despite this, it appears that the Red Devils are keen to offload the winger this summer, and they have been exploring options, including discussions with Paris Saint-Germain.

However, according to the report, negotiations with the French champions have stalled, which Chelsea sees as an opportunity to step in and secure Sancho’s signature.

Fussball.News suggests that the Blues are prepared to offer a transfer fee along with two academy players in a swap deal to bring the former Dortmund star to Stamford Bridge.

Additionally, the possibility of a loan deal has also been mentioned as a potential solution to Manchester United’s dilemma with Sancho.

Despite this reported interest, it is argued that Chelsea should reconsider their pursuit of Sancho. The club already has a wealth of wide players in their squad, making a move for the Manchester United winger somewhat surprising.

Chelsea recently bolstered their wide options by signing Pedro Neto from Wolves, adding to a list of talented players in similar positions, including Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Mkhaylo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke.

Given the depth of options available on the wings, it might be more prudent for Chelsea to focus on trimming down their already large squad rather than adding yet another wide player. Sancho, despite his potential, may not be the best fit for a team that already has an abundance of talent in his position.
