Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has canceled the contracts of two key players from the starting lineup.

With just over a week left in the transfer window, Chelsea has reassigned several players due to Enzo Maresca’s apparent lack of interest in them.

The hope is that the club will be able to find buyers for all these players before the window closes. However, the task seems daunting, as the number of players Maresca has seemingly written off might not align with the actual roster at Chelsea.

Maresca, the Chelsea head coach, seems uncertain about the exact number of players in the squad. For instance, some players like David Datro Fofana, who were assumed to be training away from the first team,

might still remain with the club. Reports suggest that Fofana is staying, meaning he and others could potentially need to be reintegrated into the squad, whether Maresca wants them or not.

Currently, there are 14 players who appear to be on the chopping block, and here’s a look at where they might end up:

Petrovic Djordje: The Serbian goalkeeper, who likely felt optimistic at the end of last season, saw his confidence shaken when Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen, making him one of eight goalkeepers at the club. Chelsea is now reportedly aiming to bring in a ninth goalkeeper, Mike Penders from Genk. With Maresca not a fan of Djordje, rumors suggest he may be shipped off to Chelsea’s sister team, Strasbourg, in Ligue 1.

Keynote Speaker: Despite being a regular on the Premier League roster, his form hasn’t convinced potential buyers. With a weekly wage of £150,000, it’s unlikely he will be involved in any deals unless there’s a significant pay cut. Although Chelsea rejected an initial offer, Al Ittihad from Saudi Arabia remains interested.

Lucas Bergstrom: The Swedish goalkeeper had a tough season, barely featuring for IFK Norrkoping, who finished 10th in the Swedish league. His future looks uncertain, and he may need to find a new club willing to take a chance on him.

Trevoh Chalobah: Despite proving himself under Mauricio Pochettino last season, Chalobah didn’t even make it to Chelsea’s tour of the United States. Although he’s considered one of Chelsea’s top four center-backs, financial priorities might lead to his departure. Newcastle United could be a potential destination, where he might follow in the footsteps of Marc Guehi, but for a fraction of Guehi’s price.

Ben Chilwell: Manchester United was interested in Chilwell last summer, and now Chelsea has reportedly “offered” him to the Red Devils. United continues to struggle with issues at left-back, as seen with Diogo Dalot playing out of position in a recent win over Fulham. While it’s risky to add another injury-prone player to the squad, Chilwell could be a valuable addition, especially with United’s current left-back options like Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
