Mohamed Salah has delivered an unexpected update about his future at Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah has revealed that no one at Liverpool has approached him about extending his contract, despite his crucial contribution in the 3-0 win against Manchester United. The Egyptian forward, who has been instrumental in Liverpool’s successes over the past eight seasons, acknowledged that he is treating this season as if it might be his last at Anfield.

Salah’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the campaign, and there has been no indication from the club regarding renewal discussions.

After scoring his 214th goal for Liverpool and helping to secure a dominant victory over Manchester United — a team against which he has now scored 15 times in his career — Salah spoke openly to Sky Sports about his uncertain future. “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive,” he said. “As you know, it’s my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. I feel like I’m free to play football and then we’ll see what happens next year.”

Salah admitted that he is focused on enjoying his final year under contract with Liverpool before making any decisions about his next steps.

He previously expressed a desire to make the most of his last season before contemplating his future, noting that he has received no communication from the club regarding an extension. His remarks suggest a sense of acceptance that he could be playing his final season with Liverpool.

Salah also hinted that the absence of any contract discussions has left him thinking about the possibility of moving on at the end of the season. “Coming into the game, I said it could be the last time [I play here with Liverpool],” Salah stated. “No one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I’m just like: ‘OK, I’m playing my last season’ and see what happens at the end of the season. It’s not up to me, but nobody’s talked to me from the club. We will see.”

In addition to scoring against Manchester United, Salah was pivotal in setting up two goals for Luis Diaz, showcasing his influence on the field.

His goal against United marked his third of the season, following strikes against Ipswich Town and Brentford. Meanwhile, other key Liverpool players, such as Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are also nearing the end of their contracts, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the future of some of Liverpool’s biggest stars.

As the season progresses, the lack of clarity regarding Salah’s future remains a focal point, not only for the player but also for Liverpool fans who are eager to see how this situation will unfold.
