A key Manchester City star, who was expected to play a crucial role against Brentford, has suffered an injury during the international break.

This weekend, Manchester City will face Brentford at the Etihad Stadium in a Premier League match. Last month, Pep Guardiola’s team secured a win against West Ham in their final game before the international break.

Over the past two weeks, several City players have traveled worldwide to represent their national teams. Now, Guardiola and his coaching staff are hoping that their injury list will improve significantly as they prepare the squad to take on Brentford this weekend.

The Manchester Evening News (MEN) Sport has reviewed the current injury status of City players and their potential return dates ahead of the Premier League clash with Brentford.

    Nathan Ake’s Injury:

Nathan Ake, a Dutch international and a key player for Manchester City, was injured during the Nations League match between the Netherlands and Germany on Tuesday night. The defender appeared to have sustained a hamstring injury, which led to him being stretchered off the field. This has left Manchester City anxiously awaiting news on the extent of Ake’s injury and the duration of his recovery. His potential return date remains unknown, causing concern for the team as they wait for more detailed information.

    Phil Foden’s Illness:

Phil Foden, an English midfielder, was unable to participate in the matches against Ipswich Town and West Ham prior to the international break. He was also withdrawn from the England squad for their games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland due to an illness.

Manchester City is hopeful that the 24-year-old will be fully recovered in time for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Brentford this weekend. The potential return date for Foden is set for the Brentford match at home on September 14.

    Rodri’s Return to the Team:

Rodri, a crucial player in City’s midfield, has not yet played for the club this season as he was given an extended break following a demanding season last year. The 28-year-old returned to the squad and was on the bench but did not play in City’s 31 August victory over West Ham. He did feature for Spain during the international break, which indicates he is nearing full fitness. Manchester City hopes to see Rodri back in their starting eleven for the match against Brentford. His potential return is also scheduled for September 14 against Brentford at home.

    Savinho’s Recovery:

Savinho, a Brazilian player and a recent addition to Manchester City’s squad, missed the victory against West Ham before the international break due to a knee injury. The injury occurred just before the match against West Ham, after he had already participated in the first two games of the season against Chelsea and Ipswich. City is optimistic that Savinho will be available to return to action following the international break, aiming for a potential return date of September 14 against Brentford at home.
