National media praise Chelsea stars. Observers hail Nkunku’s rising influence and urge Enzo Maresca to integrate them fully into the squad.

Chelsea’s recent Conference League victory against Heidenheim has drawn attention to the impressive performances of several key players, leading manager Enzo Maresca to hint that those featuring in midweek competitions could soon see more opportunities in the Premier League.

With December’s packed schedule—including seven league matches and two European fixtures—squad rotation appears to be inevitable.

Two standout performers from the Heidenheim clash were Christopher Nkunku and Filip Jorgensen. Nkunku, Chelsea’s top scorer this season, continued his fine form by netting the opening goal.

His performances have been instrumental across competitions, further solidifying his reputation as one of the team’s most reliable attackers.

Meanwhile, Jorgensen delivered an extraordinary display in goal, with several crucial saves that kept a clean sheet and left fans and analysts questioning whether he should be given a chance to start in the Premier League.

Jorgensen, signed from Villarreal, has primarily been used in midweek fixtures but is making a strong case to challenge Robert Sánchez for the starting goalkeeper position.

His commanding presence and outstanding saves against Heidenheim highlighted his readiness for greater responsibilities. This has sparked a debate among fans and pundits about his role in Chelsea’s league campaign.

The national media has been quick to weigh in on the discussion. BBC Sport’s Neil Johnston emphasized how the Conference League is providing Maresca with an opportunity to test his squad depth.

He highlighted Nkunku’s remarkable goal-scoring run and the growing pressure for Jorgensen to secure the No. 1 spot. Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail called Nkunku “Mr. Conference League,” pointing to his 11 goals across all competitions this season as evidence of his importance to the team. Despite his success, speculation continues about when he will become a regular in the league.

Alan Smith of the Daily Mirror praised Jorgensen’s heroics, noting his crucial saves against Heidenheim’s energetic attack. Smith believes Jorgensen is positioning himself as a serious contender to replace Sánchez in the Premier League.

Sky Sports’ Patrick Rowe described Jorgensen’s performance as “borderline ridiculous,” lauding his composure and agility, while Peter Rutzler of The Times acknowledged Chelsea’s reliance on Jorgensen’s brilliance to secure the win.

With a demanding schedule ahead, Maresca is expected to rely heavily on contributions from the likes of Nkunku and Jorgensen. Their recent performances suggest they are ready to take on larger roles, potentially reshaping Chelsea’s season in the weeks to come.
