Newcastle Star will become the most hated City player after he signed a contract of five years with shocking rival Club.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are among the clubs monitoring Manchester City’s young midfielder, James McAtee. The 22-year-old, who has shown considerable potential, is struggling for regular game time under Pep Guardiola this season.

Despite being highly regarded within City’s ranks, McAtee has managed only 26 minutes across three Premier League appearances, highlighting his limited opportunities in a star-studded squad.

McAtee spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, where he impressed in both the Championship and the Premier League. However, since returning to Manchester City, he has not been a key part of Guardiola’s plans, even as some senior players in the squad have underperformed.

This situation has sparked interest from other clubs, with Newcastle reportedly identifying him as a potential target. The Magpies are particularly looking for a left-footed attacking midfielder who can operate on the right side of their attack, a role McAtee could fill effectively.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has experimented with various players in that position this season, including Jacob Murphy, Joelinton, and Harvey Barnes.

However, none of them have fully addressed the team’s needs, prompting Howe to explore the transfer market for upgrades. With Miguel Almiron’s future at St. James’ Park uncertain and reports suggesting he may leave the club either in this transfer window or during the summer, signing a new attacking midfielder has become a priority for Newcastle.

McAtee, a product of Manchester City’s academy, is valued at approximately £25 million. Selling him could provide Guardiola with funds to reinvest in his squad, which has faced criticism for some underwhelming performances this season.

While McAtee possesses undeniable talent and potential, his chances of consistent first-team football at City remain slim due to the depth and quality of their midfield options.

A move to Newcastle could offer McAtee the perfect environment to develop further. It could mirror the successful transfer of Cole Palmer, another City academy graduate, who has thrived since joining Chelsea.

Regular playing time at a club like Newcastle, which is on an upward trajectory, would allow McAtee to realize his full potential and take his career to the next level. On the other hand, staying at City could risk stalling his progress due to a lack of opportunities.
