Alejandro Garnacho Confirms No Regrets Over Manchester United Exit as Chelsea Move Opens New Chapter

Alejandro Garnacho has finally spoken out about his high-profile transfer from Manchester United to Chelsea, insisting that he harbors no regrets, no sadness, and no frustration regarding his departure from Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old Argentine winger, once celebrated as one of United’s most promising homegrown talents, has openly reflected on the circumstances that led him to leave the club and why moving to Chelsea represented the right next step in his career.

Garnacho’s exit came after a turbulent period at Manchester United. Sources indicate that he had been sidelined from first-team opportunities under Rúben Amorim and, at one point, had been relegated to training with a secondary group referred to by insiders as the “bomb squad.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Atalanta, Garnacho made it clear that he viewed the transfer as a strategic decision to safeguard and advance his footballing career.

Asked directly whether he felt regret about how things ended at Manchester United, Garnacho’s response was immediate and emphatic: “No.”

He repeated that he felt no sadness, and he made it clear that his focus is now entirely on continuing his growth as a professional player. “I came here to play my football, to show people the player I am,” he said.

“Sometimes in life, you have to make a change to move forward or improve as a player. The timing was right, and Chelsea was the right club, so it was an easy decision.”

Despite interest from Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich, Garnacho confirmed that remaining in the Premier League was always his priority.

Chelsea, he explained, made the most compelling offer, and the club has demonstrated confidence in him by securing his services on a long-term deal running until 2032.

The move offers him stability and a platform to develop under a coaching staff that values his attacking instincts and creativity.

Central to Garnacho’s positive outlook has been the influence of Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca. The Italian manager has been actively working with Garnacho to rebuild his confidence and integrate him into Chelsea’s tactical setup.

“The most important thing is confidence,” Garnacho said. “He speaks with me every week. We are going to improve — me as a player and the team — over time.”

Maresca’s focus on positional awareness, structured attacking play, and ball control appears to complement Garnacho’s dynamic style, allowing him to express himself effectively on the pitch.

Maresca, for his part, has praised Garnacho’s attitude and potential, noting that the winger is open-minded, hardworking, and committed to improving both on and off the ball.

“He can give much more, but not only Alejandro — all the players. He wants to learn and is working well,” the coach said.

Ahead of the Champions League tie with Atalanta, Maresca provided some light-hearted insight into the challenges his team would face, joking about the Italian side’s aggressive man-marking style.

Chelsea will also be missing midfielder Cole Palmer, who is being rested to manage his workload, while Harvey Delap remains sidelined due to injury.

For Garnacho, the move to Chelsea represents not just a fresh start, but a chance to reassert himself as a top talent in European football under a manager who believes in him, providing a strong foundation for the next stage of his career.
