Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola confirms the £70m-rated star is desperate to join Manchester United

A dramatic twist has emerged in the transfer market, with Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola reportedly confirming that one of his key players has refused to report for training after the club blocked a proposed move to Manchester United.

According to the claims, the situation has now escalated to the point where Iraola believes the player can no longer be reintegrated into his squad, urging United to complete the deal and take him off Bournemouth’s hands.

The player in question, valued at around £70 million, is said to be desperate to make the switch to Old Trafford.

At the center of this developing saga is Bournemouth’s highly rated winger Tavs Travanier, whose rapid rise in the Premier League has made him one of the most talked-about young attackers in English football.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation since joining the Cherries, combining electric pace with close control and fearless dribbling that consistently unsettles defenders.

His performances have not only lifted Bournemouth’s attacking threat but have also placed him firmly on the radar of several elite clubs.

Travanier’s impact at Bournemouth has been impossible to ignore. Over the past season, he has delivered crucial goals and assists, often serving as the team’s primary creative outlet in the final third.

Operating mainly from the left wing, he has demonstrated an ability to cut inside, beat his marker in one-on-one situations, and create chances for teammates.

His versatility has allowed Bournemouth to vary their attacking approach, making him a vital component of their tactical setup.

Unsurprisingly, his form has attracted widespread attention. Scouts from across Europe have tracked his development closely, with many comparing his playing style and influence to some of the Premier League’s most dangerous wide players.

Among the clubs most strongly linked with him is Manchester United, who are believed to view Travanier as a perfect fit for their ongoing rebuild and long-term ambitions.

Manchester United, currently navigating a period of transition, are eager to add more pace, creativity, and unpredictability to their attack.

Under Erik ten Hag, the club has emphasized dynamic, high-energy football, with wingers expected to stretch defenses, press aggressively, and contribute consistently in the final third. Travanier’s profile aligns neatly with these demands, making him an attractive target.

With established attackers such as Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho already at the club, the addition of Travanier would further enhance United’s attacking depth and flexibility.

His willingness to work hard off the ball, combined with his flair and directness, could offer Ten Hag new tactical options and help United become more dangerous in wide areas.

For Bournemouth, however, the situation presents a difficult dilemma. Losing a player of Travanier’s quality would be a significant sporting blow, particularly given his importance to the team’s attacking identity.

At the same time, a major transfer fee could provide the financial boost needed to reinforce multiple positions within the squad.

The club may look to reinvest in promising young players or experienced professionals to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League.

While fans may be disheartened by the prospect of seeing one of their standout performers leave under such tense circumstances, Bournemouth’s leadership will be focused on managing the situation in a way that protects the club’s long-term interests.

If handled decisively, the transfer could ultimately allow the Cherries to reshape their squad and build greater balance ahead of future campaigns.
