Michael Carrick has shattered another Ruben Amorim record and he’s only been in charge of Manchester United for FOUR matches

Michael Carrick Surpasses Ruben Amorim Record with Unprecedented Consistency in Manchester United Line-Ups

Michael Carrick’s remarkable start as interim manager of Manchester United continues to make headlines, as the former Red Devils midfielder has already broken a record previously held by Ruben Amorim, despite being in charge for just four matches.

Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford, which ended last month after a turbulent spell highlighted by a 1-1 draw against Leeds United, was marked by frequent changes to the starting lineup.

Amorim struggled to find a consistent formula, making adjustments in almost every Premier League match during his time at the club.

Following Amorim’s departure, Darren Fletcher briefly took over for two matches as interim manager before Carrick was appointed to steer the team until the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Under Carrick’s guidance, Manchester United has embarked on an impressive run of form, registering victories over top opponents including Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham.

This resurgence has reinvigorated the club’s Premier League campaign, with the Red Devils currently sitting on 44 points, just two behind Aston Villa and three behind local rivals Manchester City.

Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford further demonstrated Carrick’s effective management.

The match was dramatically altered when Tottenham’s Cristian Romero received a red card in the 29th minute for a high tackle on Casemiro, reducing Spurs to ten men.

United capitalized on the numerical advantage, taking the lead in the 38th minute through Bryan Mbeumo.

In the second half, Bruno Fernandes, United’s captain, sealed a 2-0 victory with a precise finish, solidifying the team’s momentum under Carrick.

Carrick’s tactical approach has also reflected a commitment to stability and cohesion. According to The Sun, he named an unchanged starting XI against Tottenham, replicating the lineup from the thrilling 3-2 win over Fulham.

This move mirrored Carrick’s previous selections against Manchester City and Arsenal, where he also fielded consistent lineups.

The only adjustment Carrick has made in his first four matches was the inclusion of Matheus Cunha to replace the injured Patrick Dorgu.

This level of consistency has already eclipsed a record set during Amorim’s tenure. While Carrick has fielded unchanged lineups on two occasions in just four games, Amorim only managed to do so once across 47 Premier League matches.

The sole time Amorim refrained from making any changes was during fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion—a decision that yielded mixed results, with a 4-2 victory over Brighton and a 2-2 draw against Forest.

Carrick’s ability to maintain a stable XI not only demonstrates his confidence in his squad but also highlights the stark contrast between his management style and that of his predecessor.

By prioritizing consistency and cohesion, Carrick has created a platform for immediate success, instilling confidence in both players and fans alike while rewriting the record books in the process.
