Tension is reportedly building among Premier League rivals after news broke that Manchester United FC have agreed personal terms with highly rated Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand ahead of a potential summer transfer.
According to emerging reports, even figures within competing camps are uneasy about the implications of the move, with suggestions that United could significantly strengthen their league credentials if the deal is finalized.
The 26-year-old Danish international has developed into one of Europe’s most dependable midfield operators. After initially making his name in Italy with US Lecce, Hjulmand earned a move to Sporting CP in August 2023.
Since arriving in Lisbon, he has become a central figure in the squad, racking up well over a century of appearances and playing a pivotal role in delivering two domestic league titles and a Portuguese cup triumph.

Such a compromise would represent a considerable saving for United, potentially trimming more than £25 million off the originally stipulated amount.
Further intrigue surrounds claims that Hjulmand has a private understanding with Sporting’s hierarchy allowing him to depart below the official release clause this summer.
This arrangement could smooth negotiations and accelerate the process once the transfer window opens.
