Mika Biereth, a former Arsenal striker now playing for Austrian side Sturm Graz, has expressed his desire to return to the Premier League and Arsenal in the future.
The 20-year-old Dane, who struggled to make an impact at Arsenal, revealed in an interview with TV2 that while his focus is currently on performing well for Sturm Graz, he still dreams of one day rejoining the Gunners. Biereth moved to Arsenal from Fulham in 2021 but found it difficult to break into Mikel Arteta’s first team.
This led to several loan spells, including stints at RKC Waalwijk, Motherwell, and finally Sturm Graz, where he impressed the Austrian club enough for them to make the move permanent.
Despite his current success in Austria, Biereth hasn’t lost sight of his ultimate goal of playing again for Arsenal in the Premier League. “Things are going well at Sturm Graz. I play every week at a good level, and now we’re also competing in the Champions League, where I’m still waiting for my first goal,” Biereth said.
He made it clear that while his primary focus is on performing well for his current club, he remains open to the possibility of returning to North London if the opportunity arises. “A return to Arsenal would be fantastic, but it’s not something I’m focusing on at the moment,” he added.
Biereth’s time at Arsenal was largely spent on the sidelines or on loan, as he was unable to secure a regular spot in the squad.
Since his departure, Arsenal have not shown any immediate interest in bringing him back, and manager Mikel Arteta has expressed satisfaction with the club’s current attacking options.
Arteta’s forward lineup includes Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard, all of whom have contributed to Arsenal’s recent success. This depth in attack led Arteta to forego signing a new striker during the summer transfer window, despite links to high-profile names like Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.
Although Gabriel Jesus has had his share of fitness issues and inconsistent performances, Arteta appears confident in his ability to lead the line.
However, the Gunners have continued to be linked with potential striker signings, raising questions about the long-term future of Jesus and whether Arsenal might seek reinforcements in the future.
For now, Biereth’s path to returning to Arsenal remains uncertain. While he dreams of a comeback, the club has not indicated any interest in re-signing him.
However, if Biereth continues his strong performances at Sturm Graz, where he plays regular first-team football and competes in the Champions League, there could be a possibility for him to once again catch Arsenal’s attention.
If that happens, Biereth might find himself with a second chance to make his mark at the Emirates Stadium and fulfill his ambition of playing in the Premier League.
