Liverpool kept their hopes of winning the Premier League alive with a resilient 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.
The Reds demonstrated grit and determination at the City Ground, where substitute Diogo Jota made an instant impact. Coming off the bench, Jota scored with his first touch, leveling the game after Chris Wood’s early strike had given Forest the lead.
The result sees Liverpool maintaining their position six points clear of Forest, who have climbed into second place. However, Forest, managed by Arne Slot, have a game in hand, keeping them within touching distance. Adding to the drama, Chelsea and Manchester City both dropped points on the same evening, further intensifying the title race.
Alisson Becker earned a solid 6/10 rating for his performance. The Liverpool goalkeeper was beaten by Wood’s expertly angled opener but remained reliable throughout the game, making routine saves and staying alert to a dangerous free-kick from Anthony Elanga in the second half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold also received a 6/10 for his efforts. While he struggled in the first half with several misplaced crosses, his offensive contributions improved significantly after the break. Defensively, he remained sturdy but occasionally found himself tested by Elanga.
Ibrahima Konaté had a tough evening, receiving a 5/10 rating. He faced challenges with possession and misjudged bouncing balls, leading to his substitution in the second half. On the other hand, Virgil van Dijk, rated 7/10, endured mixed fortunes. He was partly at fault for Wood’s opener by keeping him onside but showcased leadership and defensive solidity in the latter stages of the game.
Andy Robertson, rated 6/10, was active in the early phases but recovered well after a defensive lapse. He was substituted in the second half. Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch, rated 7/10, faced difficulties early on, losing track of Elanga for the opening goal and missing opportunities.
However, he adapted well after Konaté’s substitution, stepping in as a makeshift center-back and delivering a commendable performance.
Alexis Mac Allister earned a 6/10, starting brightly but fading at times. He found more influence in the second half despite frustrations with the referee’s decisions. Mohamed Salah, rated 7/10, was a constant threat to Forest’s defense, creating chances and appealing for a penalty. However, he will regret not finding the net.
Dominik Szoboszlai stood out with an impressive 8/10 rating. Despite a quiet start, he grew into the game, creating chances and testing Forest’s goalkeeper, Matz Sels, who denied him a deserved goal.
