Galatasaray submit €3M opening bid to sign Manchester City star

Manchester City have reportedly received an initial offer from Galatasaray for their first-choice goalkeeper, Ederson, according to fresh details emerging this week.

The Turkish champions have now formalised their long-standing interest in the Brazilian international with a proposal worth €3 million, marking a significant step in their pursuit of one of City’s most influential players of the Pep Guardiola era.

The move comes amid growing speculation surrounding Ederson’s future at the Etihad Stadium. Despite not being officially placed on the transfer market, City’s willingness to entertain discussions has encouraged Galatasaray to act.

The goalkeeper himself is understood to be open to a new challenge, especially as Manchester City undergo a gradual transition in key areas of their squad this summer.

Ederson, whose contract runs until 2026, has been central to City’s success in recent years, making over 370 appearances and winning 13 major honours.

However, the club is beginning to plan for the future — and that includes evaluating the long-term goalkeeping setup. With backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno also considering a move away due to interest from Bundesliga clubs, the Premier League giants could be on the verge of a complete overhaul in the goalkeeping department.

According to a new report from French outlet L’Équipe, Galatasaray’s €3 million bid is significantly lower than previous valuations suggested by other sources, which estimated Ederson’s price tag between €9 million and €15 million.

Still, the low initial bid is widely seen as a strategic move — a way for Galatasaray to express formal intent and open negotiations, rather than a final offer.

It is unclear whether Manchester City will treat the proposal with serious consideration. While they are open to a potential sale under the right terms, the current figure is unlikely to prompt immediate action from City officials.

Galatasaray, however, remain optimistic. Sources suggest the club is confident that their Champions League ambitions, project stability, and financial commitment — combined with Ederson’s own willingness to reduce his salary — could be enough to seal the deal.

If an agreement is eventually reached, it would signal the end of an era for City. Ederson has been a key part of their identity under Guardiola, revolutionizing the role of the modern goalkeeper with his passing range and composure under pressure.

In anticipation of a potential departure, City are reportedly considering replacements, with FC Porto’s Diogo Costa and Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen among the names linked as possible successors.
