Rico Lewis has made it clear that his future lies at Manchester City, despite transfer interest from Nottingham Forest this summer. The young defender, who came through City’s academy, has reiterated his loyalty to the club and insists he has no desire to play anywhere else.
Speaking about his commitment, Lewis said: “For me, I’ve never pictured myself at another club. I’ve always wanted to play for City. This has always been my dream club, and like you saw today, when I’m playing with the kind of players we have, it brings out the best in me. I’m so happy here.”
The 19-year-old has continued to grow in importance under Pep Guardiola, building on his minutes from last season and targeting an even bigger role in the current campaign.
Despite speculation linking him with a move away for more guaranteed game time, Lewis has shown maturity in his outlook, admitting that it’s down to him to prove himself and earn his spot in the team.
With his versatility and composure on the ball, Lewis remains a highly-rated prospect at the Etihad, and City fans will be pleased to hear his long-term commitment to the club.
