Coming LIVE from Fabrizio Romano Manchester United have COMPLETED the signing of a young, energetic and highly creative 🇫🇷 French midfielder on a five-year deal!

Manchester United are said to have taken a bold step in their pursuit of a top-class midfielder from Real Madrid, reportedly submitting a massive €90 million offer. The bid was rumoured to include an upfront payment of €70 million, with an additional €20 million tied to performance-related bonuses.

Despite the size of the proposal, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is believed to have rejected it immediately — not only turning down the deal but firmly shutting down any possibility of future negotiations.

United’s intention to overhaul their midfield in 2026 is no secret. With Casemiro widely expected to depart and ongoing speculation surrounding the future of captain Bruno Fernandes—particularly if a substantial offer arrives—the club is preparing for significant changes in the centre of the pitch.

Even in a scenario where Fernandes decides to remain, United officials reportedly feel that the squad still lacks enough dynamism and depth, prompting them to consider several new additions.

A report from Spanish publication Fichajes claims that one of the club’s main targets is Aurelien Tchouameni. According to their story, United attempted to prise him away from Madrid with the enormous bid.

However, the Spanish giants view the French international as a crucial figure for the present and future of the team. Perez, the report alleges, dismissed the proposal outright, refusing to even engage in discussion.

While the rumour has generated excitement, Fichajes is known for publishing transfer stories that often exaggerate or stretch the truth.

Because of this, many see the claim as highly questionable. United may very well admire Tchouameni’s qualities, but trustworthy insiders suggest the club’s recruitment strategy is aimed elsewhere.

Information from more credible sources indicates that United are actually prioritising three midfielders currently playing in the Premier League: Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton.

These players are viewed as long-term investments who could form the core of United’s midfield over the next several seasons.

Brighton’s Baleba, who is valued at around £100 million, is already on United’s radar. Reports claim that he is increasingly open to a move away from Brighton, and United intend to revisit the deal in one of the transfer windows in 2026.

The biggest challenge will be negotiating with Brighton, a club well known for driving tough bargains and refusing to sell below market value.

Meanwhile, Anderson and Wharton combined could cost in the region of £150 million, with Wharton also attracting attention from several competing Premier League clubs.

Despite this competition, United remain determined to bring all three midfielders to Old Trafford as part of an ambitious long-term rebuild intended to strengthen the core structure of the team.

In addition to their midfield targets, Manchester United are also keeping tabs on a promising young Belgian talent currently developing at Ajax. They are aware, however, that other Premier League clubs are also monitoring the player’s progress.

United have also maintained interest in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, although sources suggest Liverpool are currently leading the race for his signature.

Although some of the rumours circulating around United may seem far-fetched, what remains absolutely clear is the club’s strong desire to refresh and revitalise their midfield.

The coming transfer windows are expected to be crucial as the club continues its attempt to reshape the squad for the future.
