Liverpool’s reported interest in Franculino Djú has added fresh intrigue to what is shaping up to be a competitive transfer battle, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also monitoring the highly rated forward. The 21-year-old FC Midtjylland striker has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, and his form has not gone unnoticed by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Djú has been one of the standout performers this season, producing numbers that underline his rapid development. In the current campaign alone, he has scored 21 goals and added three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
Even more impressive is his efficiency in front of goal, averaging a strike roughly every 98 minutes. For a player still early in his career, those statistics have made him an increasingly attractive option for clubs looking to invest in young attacking talent.
Looking beyond this season, Djú’s overall record with FC Midtjylland further highlights his consistency. Across 103 appearances for the Danish side, the Bissau-Guinean forward has registered 54 goals and 13 assists. His contributions have played a crucial role in Midtjylland’s strong performances, and his blend of pace, movement, and finishing has seen his reputation grow steadily across Europe.
Bayern Munich are believed to be among the most serious admirers. The German giants have reportedly tracked Djú closely, particularly in light of the underwhelming impact made by Nicolas Jackson since his arrival.
Although Jackson has shown moments of quality, he has yet to fully meet expectations. With Harry Kane still leading Bayern’s attack, the club is thought to be planning ahead by identifying a younger forward who could gradually compete for minutes and eventually take on a bigger role. Djú’s profile, age, and current form make him an appealing long-term option.
Liverpool, however, are also very much in the picture. According to journalist Christian Falk, the Premier League champions’ interest is genuine, and they are prepared to challenge Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the striker’s signature. Falk revealed that Bayern attempted to sign Djú last summer, but FC Midtjylland refused to consider a loan deal, insisting on a permanent transfer only. That stance could open the door to a renewed push in the upcoming summer window.
From Liverpool’s perspective, strengthening the central attacking area is becoming an important consideration. Arne Slot has experimented with different attacking combinations, including using a two-forward system with Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.
While that approach has shown promise, adding a young, natural goalscorer like Djú could provide greater depth and long-term security. That said, Liverpool’s immediate priorities appear to lie elsewhere, particularly with concerns mounting over defensive options and a potential centre-back shortage. As a result, Djú may be viewed more as a summer target rather than an urgent January addition.
