According to claims circulating in the media, Neves has even turned down interest from rivals such as Liverpool and Chelsea, driven by a long-standing ambition to play alongside a particular United star who has inspired him throughout his career.
United’s renewed optimism follows an outstanding Manchester derby performance under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Carrick’s tactical bravery and emphasis on deploying players in their natural roles paid dividends, as United dominated Manchester City at Old Trafford.
