Manchester United’s managerial future has taken a dramatic turn, with fresh reports suggesting a major decision is imminent—despite Michael Carrick’s impressive start in the dugout.
Sources indicate that following a high-level indoor meeting involving Sir Jim Ratcliffe and members of the Glazer family, the club has already identified its next permanent manager, and an official announcement could arrive sooner rather than later.
This development comes even as Carrick continues to exceed expectations in his interim role. Since stepping in after Ruben Amorim’s departure, the former United midfielder has overseen a flawless start, winning all of his opening three matches.
Those victories were not routine either, as they included statement wins against fierce rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.

Adding weight to the possibility, former Premier League midfielder and Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy has openly endorsed the idea of United pursuing Enrique.
