After days of outrage, debates, and VAR controversy, the authorities have ADMITTED THE ERROR

FULL-TIME 1-2: Manchester United’s disallowed Casemiro goal has officially been overturned, with PGMOL issuing a statement this morning following FIFA sanctions on the match officials.

The dramatic reversal has reignited debate around the controversial VAR decision that dominated United’s Premier League trip to West Ham.

During the second half at the London Stadium, United thought they had leveled the score after Casemiro met a precise cross from Kobbie Mainoo.

The Brazilian midfielder’s header appeared to give the Red Devils the equalizer they desperately needed, coming just 13 minutes after Tomas Soucek had fired the Hammers ahead shortly after the interval.

However, the initial joy was short-lived. The video assistant referee intervened, and the goal was ruled out for offside.

Replays seemed to show Casemiro marginally ahead of the last defender at the moment the ball was played, leading the VAR team to advise the on-field officials to disallow the strike.

The Premier League’s official match center confirmed the decision on X, stating: “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal and established that Casemiro was in an offside position, recommending the goal be disallowed.”

This decision had left Manchester United frustrated, as it came during a period of sustained pressure and control. Michael Carrick’s squad arrived at the London Stadium in confident form, boasting four consecutive Premier League victories against top-tier opponents Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham, however, under Nuno Espirito Santo, proved a formidable challenge on their home turf.

The first half of the match was largely uneventful, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities.

That changed shortly after the break when Tomas Soucek capitalized on a moment of defensive indecision, squeezing in between Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro to give the hosts a crucial lead.

United pressed for an equalizer but struggled to break down West Ham’s organized defensive setup.

Luke Shaw came closest with a threatening effort from a Bruno Fernandes corner, only to be denied by a clearance off the line.

Despite the setbacks, Manchester United refused to capitulate. Deep into stoppage time, the breakthrough finally arrived through a moment of brilliance.

Benjamin Šeško, coming off the bench, delivered a superb flicked finish that pierced the West Ham defense and kept United’s Premier League top-four hopes alive. His goal not only salvaged a vital point but also reignited belief within the squad and the fanbase.

The overturning of Casemiro’s disallowed goal by PGMOL and FIFA’s sanctioning of the officials now closes a controversial chapter, but the match itself highlighted United’s resilience in adversity.

While the Red Devils were unable to secure a full three points, Šeško’s late strike ensured they remain firmly in contention for Champions League qualification, demonstrating the squad’s fighting spirit even in tense and challenging encounters.

In the end, Manchester United left the London Stadium with mixed emotions—a combination of frustration at the earlier disallowed goal and relief at salvaging a point in dramatic fashion, preserving their strong position in the league standings.
