Shocking order reportedly given by Manchester United owners to Michael Carrick after a disastrous performance from a £43 MILLION flop

Manchester United have demonstrated a notable turnaround since Michael Carrick took the reins as interim manager, bringing a renewed sense of structure and stability to a side that had been struggling earlier in the season.

Under his guidance, the Red Devils have displayed a marked improvement in both organization and performance, despite a few minor hiccups along the way.

Just weeks prior, Manchester United looked to be on course for another season outside the top four, with UEFA Champions League qualification appearing increasingly unlikely.

However, Carrick’s appointment in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim has sparked a revival. The team’s results have improved significantly, propelling them back into contention for Europe’s elite competition.

His influence on the squad has been so positive that he is now widely regarded as one of the front-runners to be considered for the managerial role on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

One of the standout beneficiaries of Carrick’s leadership has been 20-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. After initially emerging from Manchester United’s academy as one of the most promising young talents, Mainoo’s season had seen fluctuations in his form and opportunities. Under Amorim, he lost his regular spot in the team, sparking speculation about a potential summer departure.

Carrick’s arrival changed the narrative for Mainoo. The interim manager reinstated him into the starting lineup, and the young Englishman has since produced one of the most consistent and impressive runs of his career.

Despite his growing importance to the team, Mainoo remains one of the squad’s lower earners, reportedly receiving a weekly salary of around £20,000. His current contract runs until 2027, with the club holding an option to extend it by an additional year.

Earlier in the year, discussions were already underway about improving his terms, and reports suggested progress had been made after the player adjusted his wage demands.

However, his resurgence under Carrick could now complicate negotiations, as his value and influence within the squad continue to rise.

Nonetheless, Mainoo is said to be happy at the club, with optimism surrounding the possibility that he will commit his long-term future to United.

Meanwhile, another story emerged involving young United prospect Jack Fletcher, who apologised following an incident during an EFL Trophy match against Barnsley F.C. earlier in the season.

The 18-year-old, son of former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, was sent off during the October fixture after a heated exchange with an opponent who reportedly made comments about his family.

Fletcher responded with a homophobic term, for which he was subsequently sanctioned by the FA with a six-match suspension and a £1,500 fine.

Fletcher issued a public apology following the ruling, explaining that his words were uttered in the heat of the moment and did not reflect his personal beliefs.

He expressed regret for the incident, acknowledging that his language was inappropriate.

The episode serves as a reminder of the responsibilities young players carry, both on and off the pitch, even as they develop their professional careers.

Overall, the narrative around Manchester United has shifted significantly under Carrick. The team is showing improved form, promising talents like Mainoo are thriving, and the club is navigating challenges both on the field and in managing young player development, setting the stage for a potentially exciting conclusion to the season.
