Manchester United set for MASSIVE squad overhaul under Jim Ratcliffe

    ABBy ABApril 13, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

Fresh reports suggest that Manchester United are preparing for a major squad overhaul ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with significant financial backing expected to support their plans.

Backed by INEOS, the club is believed to have allocated a massive budget—reportedly around £300 million—as they aim to reshape the squad and make a strong statement going into the new season.

As part of this restructuring, several current players are understood to be available for transfer, with as many as five individuals potentially heading for the exit door.

This move highlights a clear intention from the club’s hierarchy to refresh the team, improve quality, and address areas that have lacked consistency in recent campaigns.

At the same time, United are actively exploring defensive reinforcements, with Marcos Senesi emerging as one of the names under consideration.

The Bournemouth centre-back has impressed since joining from Feyenoord in 2022 and has become a key figure at the club.

However, with his contract situation unresolved and a renewal unlikely, his departure at the end of the season now appears inevitable.

Interest in Senesi is not limited to Manchester United alone. Premier League rivals Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly ahead in the race for his signature, making the competition for the defender particularly intense.

Despite earlier speculation linking him with a move to Italy—especially to Juventus FC—recent updates indicate that he is highly likely to remain in England.

Senesi’s profile has attracted attention due to his reliability and composure at the back. In addition to his defensive qualities, he is also known for his ability to contribute to build-up play, with his passing range and vision standing out.

His performances this season, including multiple assists, underline his capability to influence games beyond just defending.

However, the need for a new centre-back at Manchester United is still being debated. The club already possesses several options in that position, including Harry Maguire, who recently signed a contract extension, along with emerging talents like Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

Established names such as Lisandro Martínez and Matthijs de Ligt are also part of the squad.

With this level of depth, adding another defender might not appear to be an immediate priority. However, recurring injury concerns involving key players like Martínez and De Ligt, combined with the relative inexperience of younger options, could justify the pursuit of an additional reliable figure like Senesi.

Ultimately, Manchester United’s transfer strategy seems to be centered on balance—offloading surplus players while bringing in individuals capable of strengthening the squad both immediately and in the long term.

If the opportunity arises to sign Senesi, especially under favorable conditions, the club may decide it is too good to ignore as they continue their ambitious rebuild.
