Manchester United agree final deal for prolific European attacker

Manchester United have reportedly moved closer to finalizing a significant deal as they aim to strengthen a key area of weakness in their squad ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The club is said to have reached an advanced agreement for a highly rated European attacker who has impressed with his performances this season, signaling a proactive approach to rebuilding the team.

Beyond their attacking reinforcements, Manchester United are also heavily focused on reshaping their midfield.

This intention has been widely discussed, especially as the club edges closer to securing qualification for the Champions League—an achievement that would further boost their appeal in the transfer market.

Several midfield departures are expected. Veteran midfielder Casemiro is nearing the end of his four-year spell at Old Trafford, while Manuel Ugarte has struggled to establish himself in England and could also be on his way out.

As a result, United are planning to bring in at least two ready-made midfielders capable of immediately contributing to the first team.

One name strongly linked with the club is Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion. Reports suggest that United are increasingly confident about securing his signature.

Although Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is currently seen as a primary target under recruitment chief Jason Wilcox, Baleba remains highly admired within United’s internal scouting network.

The Red Devils had previously made contact with Brighton late in last summer’s transfer window but found themselves significantly apart in their valuation of the player—by around £50 million. At the time, Brighton valued the former Lille youngster at over £100 million.

Despite this setback, United did not abandon their interest. Instead, they continued groundwork behind the scenes, hoping to position themselves better for a move in the following window.

Recent updates indicate that optimism has grown within the club regarding a potential agreement, with expectations that a compromise fee closer to United’s valuation could now be reached.

Importantly, personal terms are not expected to be an obstacle, as both the club and the player are believed to be aligned in their ambitions.

Baleba is viewed as an excellent tactical fit for United’s system. Despite seeing reduced playing time under Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler this season, the 22-year-old’s strengths—such as his defensive awareness, physicality, and ability to cover space—make him a strong candidate to replace the influence of Casemiro in midfield.

In addition to Baleba, Joao Gomes of Wolves has also been mentioned as a potential target. However, reports suggest that the Brazilian may prefer a move to Liverpool instead, which could complicate United’s pursuit.

Overall, Manchester United appear determined to overhaul their midfield and strengthen their squad depth, with Baleba emerging as a key target in what promises to be a busy and crucial summer transfer window.
