Manchester United’s summer transfer plans appear to have encountered a difficult period, with the club reportedly struggling to make progress on several of its preferred targets.
The INEOS-led recruitment operation continues to explore different possibilities, but recent developments suggest that some of the players United initially identified are becoming increasingly difficult to secure.
One of the latest setbacks concerns the midfield, where Manchester United had reportedly been interested in Real Madrid star Aurélien Tchouaméni.
United’s hopes of pursuing the French international have apparently suffered a blow following developments involving Real Madrid and Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
Real Madrid had been considered among the clubs interested in bringing Rodri back to Spain. However, with Los Blancos now reportedly less likely to complete a deal for the Manchester City midfielder, their need to make changes in the centre of the pitch has apparently decreased.
As a result, Real Madrid are now believed to be reluctant to consider offers for some of their existing midfielders.
That situation could make a potential move for Tchouaméni significantly more complicated for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are also attempting to strengthen at left-back, but their preferred option has also reportedly become unavailable.
Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall has been strongly linked with Manchester United in recent transfer speculation.
The young full-back is believed to be highly admired by United and has reportedly been viewed as a potential long-term solution to the left-back position.
However, Newcastle have apparently made their position very clear.
According to reports, the Magpies have rejected Manchester United’s initial enquiry and have informed the club that Hall is not available for transfer this summer.
Newcastle’s stance comes at a time when the club has already experienced significant changes, including the departure of several important players and manager Eddie Howe.
As a result, Newcastle are reportedly determined to prevent another major departure and do not want to weaken their squad further.
Reports indicate that United have admired Hall for a considerable period, but their initial approach was rejected around two weeks ago.
