Manchester United could reportedly have a fresh opportunity to strengthen their left-back position after Barcelona made a surprising decision involving Alejandro Balde ahead of their La Liga opener against Elche.
The 22-year-old defender was left out of the squad despite there being no reports that he was unavailable because of an injury, immediately sparking renewed speculation about his future at Camp Nou.
Balde’s unexpected omission has naturally attracted Manchester United’s attention, with the Red Devils understood to be monitoring the situation closely as they continue looking for another option on the left side of their defence.
United have reportedly made enquiries regarding the Spanish international, although there is still no guarantee that the defender will eventually make the move to Old Trafford.
The biggest obstacle could be the structure of any potential transfer. Manchester United are reportedly interested in a loan arrangement that would include an option to purchase Balde permanently at a later date.
