Following the Spanish Super Cup, Ancelotti has made a definitive choice regarding Real Madrid’s primary goalkeeper between Kepa and Lunin.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has faced persistent inquiries regarding his preference between goalkeepers Andriy Lunin and Kepa Arrizabalaga, both of whom have displayed impressive form throughout the season. Acknowledging their merits, Ancelotti has actively managed their playing time, but recent reports from MARCA suggest a more structured approach.

According to the Spanish publication, Ancelotti has implemented a predefined system to allocate goalkeeping duties. Andriy Lunin is slated to be Real Madrid’s primary goalkeeper for both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League for the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga will assume the role of deputy goalkeeper, entrusted with responsibilities in the Copa del Rey. Notably, Kepa is expected to start in the upcoming Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid.

The recent Spanish Super Cup fixture witnessed Kepa in the starting lineup, contributing to Real Madrid’s notable victory over Atletico Madrid. However, despite the win, Kepa conceded three goals and faced scrutiny for his performance. Ancelotti, in his post-match press conference, provided a diplomatic assessment of Kepa’s display, refraining from explicitly indicating the goalkeeper for the upcoming Super Cup final.

Ancelotti stated, “He has played a good game in my opinion. In the first two goals, he could not do anything, and in the third, he may have been bothered by Morata’s jump. We’ll see who the goalkeeper for the final is.” The Super Cup duty remains unallocated in the reported predefined system, leaving uncertainty about Ancelotti’s choice for the final against an as-yet-undetermined opponent.

As the season progresses, Ancelotti’s strategic division of goalkeeping responsibilities aims to optimize the strengths of both Lunin and Kepa in specific competitions.

The implementation of such a system reflects the manager’s thoughtful approach to squad management, acknowledging the depth of talent at his disposal.

The structured approach not only fosters healthy competition between the goalkeepers but also ensures that both players receive meaningful opportunities to contribute to the team’s success.

Real Madrid supporters will keenly observe how this delineation of goalkeeping roles unfolds, with the Super Cup final serving as a pivotal moment in evaluating the effectiveness of Ancelotti’s decision-making in managing his goalkeeping duo.
