Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe from Manchester United, encountered further hostility during a La Liga match, just months after fans had previously expressed disturbing sentiments.
The 22-year-old forward, who is on loan until the end of the season, last played for Manchester United in January 2022, facing legal issues that included charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.
While the charges were dropped in February, uncertainty surrounded Greenwood’s return to Old Trafford. Following a club investigation, it was decided that he would continue his career away from Manchester United, leading to his loan move to Getafe. During Greenwood’s debut with Getafe against Osasuna in September, he was subjected to similar chants. However, in the recent encounter, explicit chants were absent, yet he endured continuous jeering from home fans throughout the match, indicating lingering hostility towards the United loanee.
